2020-08-09 Goettingen Fives Being in Goettingen I've played two rounds of disc golf this morning before the folks started to crowd the place. With me I have the C-Line P3 and the Proline Hellfire, similar to last time. Having only this overstable driver is different to what I usually play with, but on this course it works better than having only a straightish driver. I regard it as practice, becom- ing more familiar with those overstable shots. I didn't play well today, have a look: 1) First round a Hellfire forehand with a missed 18m putt. Second round a P3 turnover, missing the 8m putt but making the 7m come- backer. -> 3, 3. 2) Much too tight/too much hyzer with the Hellfire, landing short left. Bad forehand roller with the Hellfire, that never curled, Long approach and and missed putt for the first of the fives to- day. The second round I made the adjustment, throwing a nice flex line ... but missed the 6m putt low, despite the backstop. -> 5, 3. 3) Just the same both rounds: too much hyzer with the Hellfire backhand, landing short left. High P3 hyzer layup. 5-7m putts. -> 3, 3. 4) Hellfire forehand flex shots both rounds. Once approaching with a P3 flick, missing the low ceiling 4m putt :-( ; the other time with a short roller and making the 5m putt. -> 4, 3. 5) It takes two full power throws for me to reach this long hole the way it is shaped with such an overstable disc. (A long fore- hand roller would be the only other option.) Both rounds I lacked the flex. Later missing 15m and 8m putts. -> 4, 5. 6) (Because of people blocking the hole I could play it only in round one. On a later day I played it to fill the score.) I threw a beautiful Hellfire backhand flex, going even long! Then got me- tal on the 12m putt. -> 3, (3). 7) (Another hole blocken in round two.) This is the hole I brought the Hellfire most for. There's a high handrail right in front of the teepad forcing high releases. This I achieved with an anny flex, which worked out this time, only it was too good, going long again. Missed the 15m putt, made the 4m comebacker. -> 3, (4). 8) First round I went with the Hellfire, too nose-up, too high, straight into OB. Bad P3 layup, sailing down the steps. Then made a highlight putt 10m steep uphill over the handrails! :-) After putting the backhand anny practice shot with the P3 onto the platform, I went this way on the second round. Unfortunately it was either too high or lacked anny, fading down. Thumbered up, hit the 5m putt. -> 4, 3. 9) The throw is clear, there's hardly other choices: a low fore- hand hyzer with a driver. First round I went a bit wide and had to lay up because of low ceiling. Second round I made the 8m putt for birdie! :-) Finally! -> 3, 2. 10) Fives are coming! First round I shot the Hellfire on a back- hand anny flex right into the trees on the right, had to thumber out, then threw a P3 anny, leaving a 9m putt that I missed. Second round I went with a straight P3 backhand off the tee, sneaking through the bushes on the left -- a good position -- then went with a Hellfire forehand -- which is a good choice --, but it went out *way* too tight and right, straight into OB! :-( Missed the 12m putt. -> 5, 5. 11) Backhand Hellfire. First round on a flex line, as it should be, laying it up and putting for par; second round without flex, landing in the left bushes, without a line, hitting a tree on the layup. -> 3, 4. 12) First round a Hellfire backhand with -- you guess it -- not enough anny, going left, rollered out, missed the long putt. Second round a beautiful hyzer-flipup P3 shot straight down the fairway, only too high for the branches (which is the problem of throwing a putter), dropped down, then I layed the 20m putt up, not wanting to risk too much. -> 4, 3. This made +8 (=44) on the first round and +5 (=41) on the second (scoring 3 and 4 on the holes 6 and 7 when I played them some days later). http://marmaro.de/discgolf/ markus schnalke
