2017-10-06 Fieldwork One hour of fieldwork on the soccer field. I threw putters, midranges and fairways from a stand-still, then collected them to approach back with them, then do the same again. This is my normal routine when I do fieldwork. When I do such practicing I get better with throwing set. The first throws are short, inconsistent, nose-up. All this improves with more shots. The distance increases a few meters with each run. On the last run, I threw the Pures to about 70m, the Comets to about 75m, and the fairways (TB, EX, JLS) to about 85m. Slightly uphill with a low headwind. It was surprising to see the Pures (one Opto, one Zero Hard) go that far. They drifted right but didn't turn over. The Comets flew a few meters farther, but otherwise pretty simi- lar to the Pures. It was great to see that I could throw the X Comet cleanly, as I threw it with horrible flutter the last time. Today, however, I could rip it as far as the ESP Comet without any problem. My fairways all flew about the same distance. There was some dis- tance variance but none with a schema. My farthest drive, eventu- ally, was the Champion Teebird on a flexline. This was a thing I tried to practice: throwing annies. I got it perfect on this one shot and the overstable Teebird went far! More variance was in the left-right distribution of the fairways, but that's what you want to have: discs that fade more than oth- ers. I still had a lot of stall-outs. This gives hope for further distance potential. I'll take a step forward, when I manage to throw the disc higher with the nose down. I did try to throw the P2s, but failed. I even tried different grips. The fangrip worked best, but hurt my fingers when the disc ripped out. I'll stop throwing the P2s, thus have to bag the Pure as a separate throwing putter. I would have liked to go with fewer discs but it doesn't work. The other option would be to putt with Pures. Yet, they don't feel as good (are too shallow) for putting than the P2s. Things to practice when I've got the more important things right: Disc angle for annies and rollers. http://marmaro.de/discgolf/ markus schnalke
